Info, access and training

Living Way serves in an ideal location.  Being easily accessible to both Masiphumelele (next door) and Ocean View (3km away), there are unique ways to reach people.  Through utilising the campus in unique ways, underskilled and underemployed people are given information, referrals and have access to to training that would not exist if Living Way were not on the campus.

Basic Skills Training

Living Way is starting to offer basic skills training. The purpose of this training is to equip the unemployed with entry-level skills to get their foot in the door of employment. This earning opportunity allows people to put food on their table. Through the message of the WorkLife course, learners will know that they can progress to further employment if they are good employees. We are still in the planning stage of this programme.

Training Partners

Through partnerships with training entities, specialised vocational training is made available to the communities.  Due to the complex and changing nature of the training sector, Living Way strategically chose to forge partnerships with various training entities to meet the market's training needs.  The following is a list of vocational skills training that is happening on the campus:

  • Baking
  • Sewing
  • Computer training - both entry and advanced
  • Ceramics
  • Agricultural training
  • Film School - to commence in 2011

Information and referrals

Living Way cannot meet every training need.  There are many excellent training and support organisations that specialise in various services.  This programme aims to inform people of what resources and services are available.  From job adverts, to bursaries, to completing school and other necessary referrals, Living Way believes that accessing information will provide the much needed leg up to new opportunities.

This programme is on hold until funding is secured for the referral counsellor.
