Living Way

Welcome to Living Way's October newsletter. In this edition we will be looking at the new format of our Entrepreneurial Development programme.

New Entrepreneurs

On the 15th September Living Way began its second Entrepreneurial Development training class. The format of the training has changed a bit since its inception in April 2008. The process of the training now encompasses three different phases, all aimed at having the maximum impact on the business owner.

The first phase focuses on the basics of business. This phase also determines whether the participants are indeed ready and willing to be business owners. At this point, some participants step down from the course as they realise it is not part of their dream to run their own business. Some may also decide that there is too much hard work that goes on behind the scenes and they are no longer interested in attending the course.

Homework is an essential part of the process. It is used as a tool to test assumptions and improve ideas and serves as a filter. If a participant does not complete homework to a high standard and on time, it is unlikely they have the commitment required to make their businesses succeed. This process of filtering between phases allows Living Way to invest in those participants who have proven their willingness to learn, grow and pursue their business ideas.

Future support of these entrepreneurs is focused on assisting them to pursue the goals that they have set and to hold them accountable to the plans they have put down. Watch this space for updates on their successes.

    Our Values
We believe that people need to learn to provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives (Titus 3:14)

Therefore: Respect, not paternalism, is to characterize our work and we do not rely on charity as a response to assisting the poor
