Living Way

Welcome to Living Way's January newsletter.  As we enter a new year, I realize how much we have been blessed.  God has taken and is taking us on a journey of discovering his grace and sovereignty.

The Living Way Campus

Living Way has been blessed with a new property. Over the last few months, we have been in negotiation with the City of Cape Town officials to lease a piece of property to support Living Way activities. It is perfect for what we want to do. It was like God said: paint your dream for Living Way and I will give it to you.

The Living Way Campus is just over two acres (8700 square metres), with 14 separate buildings! It borders on Masiphumelele and is walking distance from Ocean View – two of the major catchment areas for us. Each of the buildings was custom built for training courses and business development of various forms. We have been blessed with this R30m (US$3m) property for just R500 (US$50) per year! Only God can arrange for something like that.

2009 will see a variety of activities on the Campus. We have partnered with high quality training providers to share the resources on this land to meet the dire skills need in South Africa. Starting in February, there will be training in sewing, computers, baking, ceramics, agriculture, hospitality, entrepreneur development and savings clubs formations. We also have business hives that allow us to incubate entrepreneurs who have graduated through our programme. Another exciting component is that of having Acts Volunteer house on our campus. As you might know, Living Hope, Living Way and Living Grace benefit immensely from the input of short- and long term missionaries. Having them part of our life on the campus is a real blessing.

We are starting something new in Living Way: the Worker Readiness School. The aim of this school is to empower each person on the Skills Training Campus to be great employees. Many businesses have said to us that hiring skill is not enough – they want to hire people that they can trust, rely on and know will be good employees. This exciting new venture will make the graduates of the training courses on our campus the most sought after employees for local businesses.

What a blessing! I can’t wait to show you round the site!

Points of prayer

  • For God's continued blessing in the realm of our new campus
  • For good partnerships with trainers to fill the campus
  • For the right people to come across our path in fundraising and partnerships

We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.
